On Which Continent Is Japan Located?

Japan is located in eastern Asia. Japan includes almost 235,000 square miles in the Pacific Ocean and is bordered by the Sea of Japan to the west and the East China Sea and Philippine Sea to the south.

The country has both active and dormant volcanoes and is also threatened by tsunamis and typhoons. Japan has mostly mountainous terrain, and the climate varies from temperate in the north to tropical in the south. Because of its terrain, Japan is very limited in its natural resources and relies on importing fuel from other nations. The country's main exports are cars and machinery.
