What Continent Is England On?

England is considered part of Europe. The individual countries of England, Scotland and Wales comprise the Island of Great Britain and are part of The United Kingdom.

England is the largest country of the United Kingdom, having an area of 50,337 square miles. With a population of 8,173,941, the capital of London is one of the largest cities in Europe.

It is believed that the islands forming the United Kingdom were once attached to continental Europe. With the passing of the ice age, the formation of the North Sea and the English Channel separated the land mass. The islands are now located between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea, just northwest of France.
