Cuba is on the continent of North America. Cuba is less than 100 miles away from the United States and 130 miles from Mexico. The Bahamas, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Haiti and the Dominican Republic are also in close proximity to Cuba.

Cuba is comprised of the main island of Cuba itself, the Isle of Youth and numerous archipelagos. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean and has a population of more than 11 million people. Havana is the physically largest city in Cuba, and it is the nation's capital. Cuba gained its independence from the United States in 1902.
