Alaska is on the continent of North America. Alaska is one of 50 states in the United States of America.

The largest state in the U.S. in terms of area is Alaska and it is in the northwestern part of North America. This state is the union's 49th state as of 1959 and the capital is Juneau. To the north of Alaska is the Arctic Ocean and the Beaufort Sea; the Bering Sea and Bering Strait are on the west; the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of Alaska are to the south; and British Columbia and Canada's Yukon Territory are to the east.
