Compare cheap fuel prices using apps such as GasBuddy, Gas Guru, Waze and MapQuest Gas Prices. These mobile apps all allow users to locate and compare prices at nearby gas stations.
GasBuddy is one of the most popular fuel apps, relying on crowdsourcing to keep users updated on the cheapest gas prices. Users submit information on gas prices they see, which is then aggregated by the app. Users gain points by submitting information on fuel prices, allowing them to enter weekly drawings for free fuel cards.
Gas Guru forgoes crowdsourcing in favor of information taken directly from the Oil Price Information Service, keeping its prices as up to date as possible. The app displays the locations of nearby gas stations along with their current fuel prices, both in list form and on a map.
Like GasBuddy, Waze allows users to report in on the cheapest gas prices they see around town, updating the results on the fly. The app also offers exclusive deals on fuel at certain affiliated gas stations. These special deals appear on the listings for specific nearby stations, allowing users to save cents on each gallon.
Though it’s primarily known as a navigation service, MapQuest also gives users information on the lowest fuel prices with its Gas Prices app. Users who want directions to the cheapest stations must also have the MapQuest GPS app.
