WestJet allows passengers to check in online, through mobile check-in, at self-service kiosks and at the customer service counter. A reservation code or WestJet ID is required for any type of check-in.
The online check-in process is available from the homepage. After clicking Check In Now, the user enters the departure city, name and reservation code or WestJet ID. The check-in process walks the user through tabs for additional travel information, itinerary review, baggage information and boarding pass options.
Online check-in opens 24 hours before the WestJet flight departs. Passengers can check in online up to 60 minutes before departure. The cut-off time for mobile, kiosk and customer service counter check-in is 45 minutes before the departure time for domestic flights. International flights require check-in at least 60 minutes ahead of time regardless of method.
WestJet passengers can get either printed or mobile boarding passes. Printed passes are available with all options except mobile check-in. Emailed boarding passes are only available with online or mobile check-in. Passengers who use the kiosk or customer service counter receive a printed boarding pass.
In certain circumstances, checking in at the airport is required. This applies to special circumstances such as unaccompanied minors, passengers who purchase an extra seat, groups of more than nine, passengers with an oxygen tank and flights departing from airports in the Dominican Republic or Cuba.
