Check in for an American Airlines flight by accessing the My Reservations/Flight Check-In tab on the American Airlines website or by using the mobile app check-in process. At the airport, you can also use a self-service kiosk or get help from a customer service agent at the ticket counter.
The online check-in process becomes available 24 hours before the flight's scheduled departure time. It stays open until 45 minutes before domestic flight departure and 90 minutes before international flight departure, as of 2015.
Enter your name and record locator, which is a six-character code. If you are an AAdvantage member, use your member number and password to log in. Verify the information on the reservation and complete passenger information, then click "Check-In." Select from three boarding pass delivery options: print, email or send to mobile. The same process is available on the American Airlines mobile app; click the "Check-In" option once you are logged into the app and complete the information on the screen.
At the airport, use self-service check-in by swiping your credit card or entering your record locator and name at the kiosk. Choose the flights for check-in, select seats and print your boarding pass. You can use the kiosk to print a boarding pass even if you already checked in online or with the mobile app.
