What Are the Capitals of Some Western European Countries?

The capital city of France is Paris, the capital of the Netherlands is Amsterdam, the capital of Germany is Berlin, the capital of Austria is Vienna and the capital of Belgium is Brussels. Western Europe is loosely defined, and may also include Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and other countries.

Spain's capital is Madrid and Portugal's capital is Lisbon, but some cartographers consider the two countries to be in southern Europe rather than western Europe. The capital of the United Kingdom is London and the capital of Ireland is Dublin, but these countries are similarly often considered to be part of northern Europe. The same goes for Norway, Sweden and Finland, whose capital cities are Oslo, Stockholm and Helsinki, respectively.

Amsterdam is the constitutional capital of the Netherlands, but the Hague is the political capital of the country and the seat of the Dutch government. This arrangement often causes confusion.
