What Is the Capital of Monaco?

The country of Monaco is a sovereign-city state and has a capital that holds the same name as the country. At only 0.8 square miles, Monaco is the one of the smallest countries in the world, second only to the Vatican.

Monaco is located to the south of France and on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. With an estimated population of 30,500, Monaco is the most densely populated country in the world. With a population of 15,000, Monte Carlo is the largest city in the country. French is the official language of Monaco, though Italian and Monegasque are also spoken. The beaches and nightlife attracts many tourist annually.
