Lithuania is situated in eastern Europe between Latvia and Russia. The country also borders Belarus, Poland and the Baltic Sea. Lithuania comprises a total area of approximately 25,000 square miles, making it a little smaller than West Virginia. The country has a population of approximately 3.5 million people as of 2014. Lithuania joined the EU in 2004.
