The capital of Germany is Berlin. Berlin is one of 16 German states and is located in the northeastern part of the country. As of 2014, Berlin is the largest city in Germany, with a population of roughly 5.3 million people.

Following World War II, Berlin was famously divided into East Berlin and West Berlin. East Berlin was the capital of East Germany, and West Berlin was the capital of West Germany. When the Berlin Wall came down and Germany reunified as a single country, Berlin was once again named the capital. As of 2014, Berlin is home to 158 foreign embassies.
