Websites such as FlightAware.com, FlightView.com and PlaneFinder.net provide airplane tracking services. To access the information, use the airline's two-letter code, the flight number and sometimes the departure and arrival cities. FlightAware.com tracks flights in North America, Europe and Oceania. From the home page, input the flight number and click the Track button to see the flight on a map.
FlightAware.com also allows you to view all incoming and outbound flights to a specific airport. For example, entering SFO for San Francisco without entering a flight number results in a list of all flights in and around the airport. Hover over a plane icon to view the carrier, flight number and destination information. Both inbound and outbound flights show the estimated times of arrival. A chart below the map offers additional information.
FlightView.com tracks airline routes in the United States and Canada. The search field requests the airline name or code, the flight number and departure date. Click the Track Flight button to view a map showing the plane's routing and current location. PlaneFinder.net tracks planes around the world. Input an airport to find all flights in the vicinity of that airport or a flight number to track an individual flight.
