Satellite maps of where a person lives and nearly everywhere else on Earth are available for download from many online sources, including the USGS Earth Explorer, TerraServer and Google Maps. Image quality, content and formats vary greatly.
The widest variety of images are available at EarthExplorer.USGS.gov, which hosts everything from aerial imagery to digital elevation models and LiDAR. A private firm runs TerraServer.com. It provides satellite imagery from government and private sources that users can view for free online or download for a fee.
Perhaps the simplest way to view a satellite image of a home is to use Google Maps. Users can enter a city or address at Maps.Google.com to get an up-to-date map that the user can overlay with Google Earth satellite images. Images on Google maps are free to view but are not downloadable.
