To apply for a U.S. visa from Canada, you have to follow three steps. These steps include completing the DS-160 online application form, scheduling an appointment for a visa interview and presenting the requisite documents at the interview.
As of 2015, the process of applying for a U.S visa has gone online, eliminating the need to visit an embassy to apply. The only time applicants visit the U.S. Embassy is for the visa interview. To apply online, applicants go the U.S embassy website for Canada, register an account. This application mode is the easiest and most efficient way to apply for a U.S visa.
On the website, applicants are directed to fill DS-160 form online. The form requests all of an applicants personal details that immigration services requires for a visa. It must be filled out completely, and every family member applying for a visa must fill out individual forms. Applicants must submit the form no later than 24 hours before the scheduled interview.
After filling out the DS-160 form, applicants must schedule an appointment at the embassy for a visa interview. Immigration does not process incomplete DS-160 forms, and submitting incomplete forms leads to delays and interview rescheduling. For the interview, applicants should bring a copy of the DS-160 and other relevant documents and materials, such as a passport, ID card or drivers license.
