Free, downloadable maps of Missouri are available from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the GPS File Depot and the Internet Archive. Road maps and bicycle route maps are available from MoDOT, and USGS maps are available from the GPS File Depot and the Internet Archive.
The MoDOT site provides free, downloadable PDF files of the latest edition of the Missouri Highway Map. The front PDF file shows the entire state in full color, while the back PDF file provides traveler information and detailed inserts depicting Missouri cities. MoDOT also provides maps showing the major bicycle routes across Missouri as well as more detailed maps showing where the routes pass through each region of the state in relation to state and county roads.
GPS File Depot provides downloadable GPS files that allow users to make their own customized maps or use the files with GPS-capable devices. The list of Missouri-related GPS files includes topography maps of Missouri, its wildernesses, public land ownership, watersheds and other geographic features, and hiking trails at different resolutions.
The Internet Archive website makes USGS maps available in various formats, including TIF, PDF and GIF, along with metadata about each map in XML format. The maps are split up according to geographical coordinates.
