An RCI member is allowed to carry over Points from the year they are obtained into a second year if he applies for Points saving prior to the Points expiring. Points may also be extended into a third year if the owner applies for the extension prior to expiration. Upon expiration, Points are reverted to RCI and the owner loses the ability to book travel using them. Value of Points is not refunded. Membership years begin one month after the RCI owner signs up for the account.

Exchanges to the owner's home resort must be booked 11 to 12 months in advance. An owner who wants to use his home week at his home resort is required to book 13 to 14 months in advance of travel dates.
