Bohemia is a historical region occupying the western two-thirds of the Czech Republic in Central Europe. Bordering countries are Poland to the northeast, Austria to the south and Germany to the west.
Much of the 20,000 square miles of the region is dominated by mountains, with the Ore and Krkonose ranges running along the borders of Germany and Poland, respectively. As of 2014, Bohemia is home to 6 million of the Czech Republic's roughly 10 million residents. The 14th-largest city in the EU, Prague, rests in the central part of the region, serving as the capital of both Bohemia and the Czech Republic.
