New York City's Central Park is 843 acres with a perimeter of 6 miles. It extends north to south from 110th Street to 59th Street and east to west from 5th Avenue to 8th Avenue. Central Park was the first landscaped public park in the United States.
Central Park was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in 1858. It was built over the course of 16 years. the park contains seven bodies of water covering 150 acres, 136 acres of lawns and 250 acres of woodlands. The park is open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. As of 2014, more than 25 million visitors come to Central Park each year to use its walking paths, playgrounds, bridges and carousel.
