Bethlehem is a Palestinian city located south of Jerusalem, in the central West Bank. it is the capital of the Bethlehem Governorate and, as of 2014, has a population of 25,000 people.
According to Christian beliefs, Bethlehem was the birthplace of Jesus Christ. It is widely believed that King David was born in raised in the city as well.
Bethlehem is a popular tourist and shopping destination, especially in the Christmas season. The Church of the Nativity is a famous attraction in the city, bringing Christian pilgrims from far and wide. It stands in the center of the city, overlooking the grotto where Jesus was supposedly born.
