Bermuda is an island located in the North Atlantic Ocean. It is 640 miles east of the Cape Hatteras, N.C., and is geographically part of North America. The closest land area to Bermuda after Cape Hatteras is the Canadian island Cape Sable, located 770 miles to the north.
Despite its close proximity to the United States, Bermuda is an overseas territory of the United Kingdom. In fact, it is the United Kingdom's oldest overseas territory. Bermuda's location, mild climate and use of English as its primary language make it a popular tourist destination for travelers from North America. Its primary industries are tourism and banking.
