Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan membership provides benefits that include mileage accrual that leads to free flights around the world, including trips on Alaska Airlines or any of its flight partners, such as Delta Airlines, Air France, KLM, American Airlines and Qantas. Miles can be accrued by using non-airline partner services, such as rental cars, hotels, shopping, dining, wine clubs and telecommunication services. Even grocery purchases from Carrs/Safeway are eligible for mileage accrual in the state of Alaska.
After accruing sufficient mileage, plans members can redeem the miles for free flights to any Alaska Airlines destination, including New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Atlanta, New Orleans and any of the 104 cities serviced by the airlines, as of 2016. Extra miles are typically required for flights to Hawaii and Mexico. For most international flights, mileage plan members need to redeem their miles for flights with partner airlines. If flyers have not yet earned enough miles for free tickets, it is possible to obtain substantial discounts by combining accrued miles and cash. Members can also apply their miles to upgraded seats on any flight, with as few as 15,000 miles necessary for upgrading to First Class.
Mileage plans members have the option to make an impact in their community by donating miles to worthy organizations such as the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Foundation and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants free trips to children with serious illnesses or injuries.
