On a map of Central America, Belize is south of Mexico and east of Guatemala. It is northwest of all of the other Central American countries. The eastern coast of Belize leads to the Gulf of Honduras and the Caribbean Sea.
The eastern coast of Belize has many islands, such as Ambergris Caye and Turneffe Islands. The coast also has reefs, such as Lighthouse Reef and Glover Reef.
Belize is 180 miles long and 68 miles wide. Most of Belize is near sea level, except for the Maya Mountains in the southwest. The capital city is Belmopan, near the center of the country. The most populous city is Belize City, along the eastern coast.
