Padre Island is a barrier island located near Corpus Christi, and the National Seashore is a park area that has 70 miles of coastline. Malaquite Beach is one of the most popular spots in this area, featuring an unspoiled stretch of beach that doesn't allow vehicles and a beach camping area.
Boca Chica Beach is in Boca Chica State Park, located in Brownsville near the southernmost point of the state. The beach allows licensed camping and fishing in addition to the usual beach activities.
Mustang Island is just north of Padre Island. As with the other public beaches, camping and fishing are available. As of 2015, there is a $5 entrance fee for those over the age of 12.
Galveston Island is another barrier island located near League City and Pearland. It has a number of different beaches, including Stewart Beach Park, East Beach and South Beach. The island has 32 miles of beaches in total.Learn more about Geography
