China is home to more people than any other country in the world, with a population of 1.3 billion or about 20 percent of the world's population. China is also home to giant pandas, long-eared jerboas, white dolphins, Asiatic golden cats and Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys.
The New Year celebration lasts for 15 days in China. The most recent Chinese New Year began on Feb. 19, 2015, which marked the beginning of the year of the sheep in Chinese culture. One of 12 animals represents each year. Builders of the Great Wall of China, one of the world's most famous landmarks, used mortar made from sticky rice in its construction.
