Mont Royal Park is the largest of Montreal's city parks. Located along the top of Mont Royal, one of the lookouts faces the city and the nearby St. Lawrence River. Another one overlooks Olympic Stadium to the east. Visitors can find cycling, jogging and horseback trails throughout the park. In the winter, the trails are available for cross-country skiers and snow shoe travelers. Mont Royal also has its own toboggan run.

Montreal's Underground City consists of more than 200 restaurants, 30 movie theaters, shops, museums and hotels, all connected by the Metro. Some people travel from home to work, run errands and then head back, all without stepping outside into the cold Montreal winter. The closest entrance to the underground city from the Hotel Place des Arts is the Station Place De Arts, about two blocks away.

The Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral, fashioned after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, dates back to the end of the 19th century. Although it's a Catholic church, it resides in what was then the Protestant sector of the city. The cathedral is open daily, allowing visitors to view the gilded cover over the altar and original paintings of Montreal's early days by Georges Delfosse.
