Visitors to Bala, Ontario, can enjoy guided tours of Cranberry bogs, water sports at Bush's Watersports Park, outdoor pursuits including hiking, kayaking, fishing and cross-country skiing, rock concerts at The Kee to Bala; and a visit to Bala's Museum. Additionally, Bala's Cranberry Festival takes place each October.
Bala is a major cranberry-growing region and home to two important cranberry bogs. The Cranberry Festival takes place over the weekend following Canadian Thanksgiving. Festivities include fairground rides, street entertainment, food, art and craft stalls, and helicopter trips. Shuttle buses take visitors to the cranberry marshes to gather cranberries. Bala's Museum, which is dedicated to "Anne of Green Gables" author Lucy Maud Montgomery, also has a gift shop.
