Where Is Antigua Located?

Antigua, the main island of the country Antigua and Barbuda, is located in the Caribbean, in the eastern side of the Leeward Islands of the Lesser Antilles. The Leeward Islands separate the North Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea.
Antigua lies east-southeast of Puerto Rico, north of Montserrat and Guadaloupe and east of St. Martin, St. Barts, St. Kitts and Nevis. It is approximately 17 degrees north of the equator. Antigua, at 108 square miles, is the largest of the British Leeward Islands.
Antigua and Barbuda, whose capital is St. John's, has a population of 68,000 as of 2011. Antigua is known for its beaches and clear blue waters.
