The Great Smoky Mountains, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yellowstone are some of America's most popular national parks. Nearly 70 million Americans visited national parks in 2014, and these parks hosted many of the visitors.
The Great Smoky Mountains has more than twice the number of visitors as any other national park. Annually, more than 10 million people visit the park in North Carolina and Tennessee to travel the mountaintop scenic highway and the park's 800 miles of trails.
The Grand Canyon is the second most popular national park destination. Only a fraction of its 277-mile length is visible from any one vantage point. Over 4 million guests view the pristine, rough-cut glacial landscape of Yosemite National Park every year.
Yellowstone was the first national park and is still one of the most popular national parks. Sitting in the caldera of a volcano, visitors can tour hot springs, geysers and many other unique geological formations.
