Boise is located in southwestern Idaho about 40 miles from the Oregon border. The city of Boise was originally founded as Fort Boise by the Hudson Bay Company. Located in Idaho's Treasure Valley, the city enjoys temperate weather conditions with mild summers and winters. Most of the Intermountain West region is very dry. Despite its elevation, Boise enjoys a semi-arid climate and actually receives very little snow each year, according to Real Idaho.
