Africa is located south of Europe and Asia. The continent is located in all four hemispheres – the equator runs almost directly through the middle of Africa, which means that it is both in the southern and northern hemispheres, and although most of this continent is located in the eastern hemisphere, a small portion of it is located in the western hemisphere.

Africa is 11,668,599 sq miles, and it accounts for 6 percent of the world’s total surface area and just over 20 percent of the world’s total land area. The continent is home to 54 different countries and several territories.
