Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is located Munising, Michigan on the shoreline of Lake Superior. The area is home to cliffs, dunes, waterfalls and lakes. Entrance to the park is free, and activities include hiking, camping, sightseeing, ice fishing and snowmobiling.
During the Shoe Year's Hike, 80 old-fashioned kerosene lanterns are used to light up a 1-mile trail in Porcupine Mountains State Park. The event also attracts snow shoers and skiers. It features a warming lodge halfway through the trail and complementary refreshments.
The Hot Plate Pottery is located at 153 West Washington Street, Marquette, Michigan. Visitors select the objects they would like to paint and choose stencils and paints. The business encourages family-friendly fun, and students get a discount.
