Some of the activities found at the Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, include pool fun for adults and children, a long sandy beach, the Brio Spa & Fitness Center, golf and nature watching opportunities. A Kid's Club is available, as are cooking, dancing, art and Spanish language classes.
Adults have access to swim-up bars in the adults-only section of the pool. Beach volleyball, water aerobics, water polo, beach soccer and dancing lessons are frequently scheduled. As of 2015, the facility hosts an adult beach party every Monday evening from November through the middle of June. It includes a barbeque buffet, open bar and Latin music. Luxxe Bar holds a tequila toasting event daily.
An on-site Kid's Club for children ages 5 through 12 features arts and crafts, fun lessons about Mexican culture and access to a kid-friendly water park with slides, a jungle gym and a wading pool. Parents and kids can enjoy the Wave Pool and the Lazy River ride, as well as a trip down the two-story Mayan Pyramid water slide.
Between July and October, sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. Guests watch as members of the Sea Turtle Protection Program help the hatchlings make their way to the sea. The humpback whales come to the Bahia de Banderas to mate and give birth. Guests view them from the shore as they breach and spout between December and April. An 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus is also on site.
