A calendar of events for the Timonium Fairgrounds, also known as the Maryland State Fairgrounds, can be found online at MarylandStateFair.com. The calendar allows users to view scheduled events for both months and individual days, and can be filtered to show all events, state fair events only or year-round events.
In 1879, a group of community leaders formed a corporation known as The Agricultural Society of Baltimore County and began to lease a 37-acre plot of land called the Timonium Estate. The first state fair, which was held on the grounds in September 1879, was called the Timonium Fair.
In 1906, The Agricultural Society merged with the group in charge of the Maryland State Fair, which was previously held annually at Pimlico, to become the Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society of Baltimore County. In 1937, this joint venture was named the official state fair of Maryland.
As of 2015, the Timonium Fairgrounds hosts a number of community and regional events besides the annual state fair. In the winter months, for example, the fairgrounds puts on the Festival of Trees, holds a Christmas tree sale, hosts the East Coast Indoor Nationals Car Show, puts on a horse sale and holds various other shows.
