Some of the highest-rated weekend getaways of 2015 are Sedona, Charleston, Monterey, Colorado Springs and Vancouver, according to U.S. News and World Report. Rounding out the top 10 getaways are Austin, Williamsburg, Tucson, Santa Barbara and Kennebunkport.
Sedona, the top-rated weekend getaway, has picturesque sandstone formations and numerous hiking trails. There are 100 trails in Sedona, ranking from easy jaunts to extreme climbs that take the better part of a day. Some of the top trails include the Cathedral Rock Trail, Bell Rock Pathway and Boynton Canyon. Second on the list is Charleston, South Carolina, which is popular for its Southern charm and trees draped in Spanish moss. One of the top sites is the Battery, a strip of the city running along the Charleston Harbor filled with historic buildings and Civil War relics.
Golfing enthusiasts enjoy Monterey, California, for its golf courses, which border the Pacific Ocean. Colorado Springs boasts a number of outdoor activities as well as urban pursuits. Hikers can make their way to the top of Pikes Peak or watch fighter jets above the Air Force Academy. Vancouver is another destination popular for its natural beauty and nightlife. Austin, Texas, features popular live music, while Williamsburg contains a variety of colonial artifacts.
