Some wholesome slow cooker chicken recipes include chicken and dumplings, chicken noodle soup and chicken marinara with vegetables. Chicken tortilla soup and creamy Italian chicken can also be made in a slow cooker.
To make chicken and dumplings, combine 4 skinless and boneless chicken breasts, 2 tablespoons of butter, 2 cans of condensed cream of chicken soup, 1 small, finely diced onion, and 2 packages of refrigerated biscuit dough. Cook this mixture for five to six hours on high heat. Tear up small pieces of dough, and drop them carefully into the soup mixture. Continue to cook the chicken and dumplings until the dough is no longer raw in the center. This recipe makes 8 servings.
To make easy marinara chicken, combine 2 pounds of boneless and skinless chicken breast, 4 cloves of peeled and crushed garlic, 4 chopped tomatoes or 1 14.5-ounce can of drained low-sodium tomatoes in a slow cooker, then add 1 cup of diced medium-sized celery ribs, 2 small, diced zucchinis, 1 bell pepper that has been cored, seeded and diced, 1 18-ounce jar of low-sodium marinara sauce, 1 teaspoon of dried basil and 1 teaspoon of dried thyme. Cook for five hours on low heat.
