Quick Answer

Some ways to dry apples are to place them in the oven, out in the sun or in a food dehydrator. Before using one of these methods to dry the apples, wash, core and peel the apples, and then soak them in a solution that prevents browning. To dry apples in the oven, begin by preheating the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit or as low as 145 degrees Fahrenheit, if the oven goes down to that temperature. Arrange the apple slices, making sure to separate them, on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake the apples for an hour, then flip the slices over, and bake for an additional hour to two hours. Turn off the oven at this point, but leave the apples in the oven for another one to two hours.

To dry the apples in the sun, place the slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the apples with cheesecloth, and place them in sunlight for about two days. Turn the apples at least once daily, and bring the apples in once it gets dark.

If using a dehydrator, put the apple slices in the dehydrator, and set it to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the apples in the dehydrator for 12 to 24 hours.
