Bobby Deen of the Food Network supplies one of the best and easiest recipes for the classic summer refresher, the pina colada, without the alcohol. All that is needed by way of ingredients are coconut milk, banana, pineapple and ice. The only equipment required is a functional blender.
For two servings, one should collect one whole banana, one cup of unsweetened coconut milk and a quarter cup of ice cubes. First take the pineapple and break it down into chunks. If using a prepared or canned pineapple, this step is already completed ahead of time, making things even easier. Now take all the ingredients and put them inside the blender. For an added touch of sweetness, Deen suggests introducing a touch of honey to the recipe, about two teaspoons.
Once all items are combined in the blender, puree the contents until smooth. Of course, all blenders function slightly different, so one may have to play with settings to achieve the desired consistency. Once that consistency has been achieved, pour the contents into two glasses. One can then use a variety of garnishes. For example, one might try extra pineapple wedges; simply make a small slit in the bottom of the pineapple and place it on the rim of the glass. Additionally, for another sweet element, use maraschino cherries.
