Using Lipton onion soup in meatloaf simply requires mixing the powder with the meat and other ingredients. A similar version of this meatloaf calls for using condensed French onion soup.
To make meatloaf with Lipton onion soup mix, place 2 pounds of ground beef in a big bowl. Pour one envelope of the soup mix over the top, and add 3/4 cups dried bread crumbs, 2 eggs, 3/4 cup of water and 1/3 cup of ketchup. Mix with hands until the meat and flavorings are well combined.
Place the meat onto a 13-inch by 9-inch roasting pan. Form it into a loaf, and brush the top with more ketchup if desired. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour or until cooked through. Let the meat loaf stand for 10 minutes before cutting.
To make French onion meatloaf, combine 2 pounds of lean ground beef with 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs and a lightly beaten egg. Add one can of condensed French onion soup, and season with salt, pepper and dried parsley flakes. Add ketchup or barbecue sauce, if desired. Mix well, and cook as directed above.
Meatloaf made with onion soup inside is good with rice side dishes such as mushroom rice from Knorr. A standard side dish for meatloaf is mashed potatoes.
