Black Bear Diner menus feature classic American comfort food, such as full breakfasts, burgers and fried chicken. The founders of the chain established the first Black Bear Diner with a focus on home-cooked fare in honor of the company's small town roots.
Breakfasts at Black Bear Diner include chicken fried steak with country gravy and corned beef hash, consisting of shredded beef brisket fried with potatoes, while lunches emphasize burgers. Specialty Bear Burgers all feature golden brioche buns, mayonnaise and Thousand Island dressing alongside one-third-pound, all-beef patties. Sides include French fries, homemade potato salad and cole slaw.
Dinners come with freshly baked corn bread muffins and a choice of French fries, red-skinned mashed potatoes with country gravy, a baked potato or onion rings. Popular dinner entrees include pork cutlets and cinnamon apples, house-made meatloaf and slow-cooked pot roast.
Desserts are also made from scratch. Olga's Bread Pudding is one of the more popular dessert items. It is made with heavy whipping cream, bread, vanilla and eggs, which are served warm with pecan praline sauce and topped with even more whipped cream.
Black Bear Diners also provide a number of options for children, with Li'l Cubs and Big Cubs menus. These offer smaller portions along with dishes such as macaroni and cheese.
