Some appetizer recipes that use Tostitos chips are mozzarella boulettes and apple crumble minis. Tostitos are white corn-based snacks that are cooked in oil and seasoned with salt.
To make mozzarella boulettes, begin by rolling tiny balls of ground beef around small cubes of mozzarella cheese. Place the meat balls on a baking dish and cook them for 10 to 15 minutes in an oven set to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the balls from the oven and place each one in a Tostito scoop tortilla chip. Spoon chunky salsa over each meat ball and serve.
Apple crumble minis require Tostitos multigrain SCOOPS!, 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 2 peeled and diced apples, 6 tablespoons of brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 cup of chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup of flake oats and 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Melt two tablespoons of butter in a large pan. Add the apples and cook until they're soft. Add 1/4 cup of the brown sugar and all of the cinnamon to the pan and stir the ingredients together until the sugar melts. In a separate bowl combine the rest of the brown sugar, the walnuts, oats and cheese. Add the rest of the unmelted butter to the bowl and mix the ingredients together. Spoon the apple and brown sugar sauce into individual Tostitos tortilla chips and sprinkle each chip with the walnut topping. Bake the chips in the oven for five minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
