If the turkey is frozen, allow approximately three days for the turkey to thaw in the refrigerator. Remove the giblets, and pat the turkey dry. Allow approximately three and a half hours for the turkey to bake, but check it throughout to ensure it is not overcooked.
To ensure that the turkey is fully cooked, insert an instant-read thermometer between the leg and thigh joint. It should read 165 degrees Fahrenheit when the turkey is fully cooked. Allow the turkey to rest and cool for at least 30 minutes before serving. If you plan to stuff the turkey, do this step before placing the turkey in the oven.
