In general, the health benefits related to drinking tea far outweigh any potential health risks that drinking the beverage may have. While there have been some reports that link drinking tea to brittle bones, a person would have to consume a massive amount of tea on a daily basis to be at risk.
Some studies have also linked drinking tea to a high risk of developing prostate cancer and drinking hot tea, or other hot beverages, can increase the likelihood of developing esophageal cancer. Meanwhile, tea is full of antioxidants, flavonoids and other healthy ingredients that can potentially lower the risk of heart disease, cancer and high cholesterol and help improve mental alertness. As with most things, drinking tea should occur in moderation.
