Clearly Canadian sparkling flavored water was discontinued and is not available in stores as of 2015. However, a crowd-sourced campaign began in 2013 to revive the brand. If enough cases of the beverage are pre-ordered, Clearly Canadian has the potential to once again enter supermarkets throughout Canada and the United States.
Founded in 1987, the Clearly Canadian premium beverage company rose to extreme popularity throughout the 80s and 90s, but was discontinued due to a lack of success in the United States. This occurred because of a poor marketing strategy on the part of the manufacturers; Clearly Canadian was more expensive than most comparable soft drinks, and there was a surplus of the product available.
However, in 2013, Clearly Canadian announced a potential comeback though a crowd-sourced fan campaign. Their stated goal was to see 25,000 cases ordered for direct-to-consumer delivery in order to start selling the product in supermarkets throughout the United States and Canada. They further announced that sales of 250,000 cases would facilitate a worldwide comeback.
Direct-to-consumer orders were expected to be delivered at some point in the first quarter of 2015. Four original flavors are slated for availability: Mountain Blackberry, Wild Cherry, Orchard Peach and Country Raspberry.
