The steps to making cube steak in a slow cooker consist of flouring the meat, browning the steaks in oil on the stove and then cooking them in the slow cooker for up to eight hours. Cube steak is traditionally served over mashed potatoes or egg noodles.
Measure 1/3 cup of flour into a plastic baggie. Add the cube steaks, and shake until well-coated. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet. Place the floured steaks into the hot oil, and cook until browned on each side. Transfer the browned steaks to the slow cooker, and cover with 1 onion, sliced and separated into rings. Add 2 cups of water to the slow cooker, cover, and cook on low for eight hours or until the meat is tender.
In a small bowl, combine 1 packet of brown gravy mix with 1 packet of mushroom gravy mix and one packet of onion gravy mix. Add 1 cup of water, and whisk until the gravy mixes have dissolved and are well-blended. Add the gravy to the slow cooker, and cook on high for 30 minutes. Serve over mashed potatoes or egg noodles, and add a green vegetable for a complete meal.
