What States Have Family Fare Supermarkets?

As of 2015, there are approximately 60 Family Fare supermarkets located in Michigan, North Dakota and Nebraska. Family Fare supermarkets are a division of SpartanNash, the largest food distributor for military commissaries and exchanges in the United States.

The first Family Fare location opened in Hudsonville, Michigan. Southern Michigan is home to most of the state's Family Fare locations, whereas SpartanNash's other main brand of supermarkets, Glen's Markets, are spread throughout the northern part of the state.

Since 1966, many Family Fare locations have expanded to include fuel stations, pharmacies and Starbucks kiosks. Other recently opened locations are revamped versions of previous supermarkets, with Family Fare simply adopting and rebranding the previous supermarket's name and its corresponding in-store features.

In 2015, SpartanNash converted four No Frills stores and two Bag N' Saves locations in Omaha into Family Fare locations. The No Frills locations contained sushi bars, which are now Family Fare sushi bars. Other new in-store features include deli counters with panini bars and dedicated natural and organic foods sections.

While the selection of name brands and availability of products varies from to store to store, most Family Fare locations feature one or more private value brands by SpartanNash, such as b-lieve, Spartan and TopCare.
