Is Sprite Good for an Upset Stomach?

Although water is the best liquid to take in during the first couple of hours of an upset stomach flare-up, clear liquids like lemon-lime sodas, such as Sprite, are acceptable substitutes. As noted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an upset stomach, clinically known as gastroenteritis, is a stomach virus that affects the intestines and stomach lining. Fluid replacement is one of the key steps to relieving an upset stomach.

Besides lemon-lime soda, other fluids that an affected person can take in to relieve gastroenteritis include clear broth or bouillon, ginger ale, sports drinks, decaffeinated tea, diluted fruit juices like cranberry juice or grape juice, ice pops, diluted gelatin and powdered fruit-flavored drinks.
