Greek seasoning is a mixture of garlic powder, basil, oregano, cinnamon and black pepper in combination with parsley, dill, marjoram, rosemary and thyme. Paprika, mint, nutmeg and onion powder may also be included.
The spices may be ground together for a finer texture. Most recipes for Greek seasoning include salt but adding it is a matter of personal preference. Cornstarch is also a common ingredient added to prevent caking.
This seasoning blend works well with beef, pork, chicken or fish. It's also a good addition for red and white sauces. The spice mix can be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to six months.
