Preparing a beef brisket typically requires a few minutes of preparation, a few spices added and a cooking time ranging from two to 10 hours. After marinating the brisket in the refrigerator overnight, a slow cooker heats the meat until it is fork-tender and ready to serve.
In a mixing bowl, blend together two tablespoons of brown sugar and one tablespoon each of onion powder, salt, paprika, pepper, garlic powder and ground mustard. Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of cumin and 1 1/2 teaspoons of chili powder. Mix well and rub a beef brisket with the mixture. Place the rubbed brisket into a resealable bag and refrigerate for eight hours. Add six tablespoons of flour to the slow cooker and increase the heat to high. Whisk the mixture until it is thickened and serve it with the beef brisket.
