Food networks' traditional Teriyaki sauce and Betty Crocker's balsamic Teriyaki sauce are two simple recipes for making Teriyaki sauce. Also there is a recipe for Teriyaki marinade that is easy to prepare. Each of these recipes has a preparation time of approximately 10 minutes.
To prepare traditional Teriyaki sauce combine 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup water and 2 tablespoons sweet red wine. Mix together with 1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons brown sugar, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons of minced garlic and minced ginger. Pour mixture into a saucepan and heat on medium until the sugar is dissolved. If a glaze is desired mix 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch with 1 tablespoon water and add to sauce. Heat on medium high heat until the sauce is thickened.
To make balsamic Teriyaki sauce melt 1 1/2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until it is bubbling. Then add 1 minced shallot, 2 cloves finely minced garlic, and then cook for three minutes. Pour in 1 cup of balsamic vinegar, bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. Mix in 2 teaspoons sugar, 1/4 cup beef flavored broth, 2 tablespoons soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sweet rice wine. Heat on low for five minutes and serve over cooked meat.
To prepare a Teriyaki marinade that can be used with any meat mix together 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup soy sauce, 1 teaspoon crushed garlic, and also 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Place in a bowl with a meat of your choice, cover tightly, place in the refrigerator for a minimum of two hours, and then grill.
