A simple recipe for mustard sauce calls for 1 egg, 1/2 cup of white sugar, 1/3 cup of white vinegar and 4 1/2 teaspoons of dry mustard. Heat a saucepan over medium heat. Add the egg and sugar to the pan and beat them together.
In a small mixing bowl, combine the vinegar and dry mustard. Slowly pour the mixture into the pan with the egg and sugar. Stir the mixture until the ingredients are completely incorporated. Serve the mustard sauce hot.
Honey-mustard sauce can be made using 1/4 cup of Dijon mustard, 3 tablespoons of melted butter, 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 teaspoon of cider vinegar and coarse salt and ground pepper to taste. Simply mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
Mustard sauce can also be used for most barbecued meat, although it is usually reserved for pork. The ingredients for a barbecue mustard sauce are 1 cup of prepared yellow mustard, 1/2 cup of balsamic vinegar, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
Heat a saucepan over medium heat. Add all of the ingredients to the pan and stir them together. Reduce the heat to a low settings and simmer the sauce for approximately 30 minutes.
